Republicans have NPR and PBS in their sights once again, and once again progressives and media reformers have to fight for every penny that public media gets. Just how many pennies is that, though? Sally Kohn of Movement Vision puts that funding in perspective in this video.

The USW has long been part of the Blue-Green Alliance, creating a labor-environmentalist coalition, but stopped short of calling for an end to nuclear power--but will that change after Japan?

Last week we spoke to Dave Lindorff about Raymond Davis, the CIA employee held in Pakistan, accused of shooting two Pakistani civilians. The story got murkier the deeper it went, Lindorff noted.

Communities of color, Monica Adams notes, "were already organizing, we already knew about the wrath of Walker, we knew how he was over Milwaukee, we knew that he'd have targeted attacks." It was only natural, then, for Monica and her colleague at Freedom Inc., Kabzuag Vaj, to be at the center of the organizing against Scott Walker's cuts.

"There's going to have to be a new kind of union movement. It's got to be one that is much more rank and file, much more bottom up, the organization has to be in the workplace, and in order to go beyond legalistically bargaining wages, people have to take action in the place that they work," says David Newby of the AFL-CIO.

So the Obama team is telling top donors he’s in a weaker position than in 2008. According to the Wall Street Journal Monday the president’s team is trying to galvanize top Democratic donors by explaining that despite his rebound since the 2010 elections, his reelection prospects are far more difficult than they appear. In other news, the Washington Post reported Sunday that Team Obama’s been engaged in some interesting under-the-radar efforts to fire up young voters. The way he's going about the latter may explain the first.
