It seems odd to quote Bill Clinton when it's Obama's recycling of Clintonite politicians that has helped get us into this mess, but there it is. “It's the economy, stupid.”
Americans are angry with the Obama administration, and the Obama administration is angry with—bloggers? The left-leaning media? What's wrong with this picture?
The vice president says “Stop whining.” Obama says “Buck up.” Robert Gibbs rants about the “professional left.” All of them seem to forget who put them in office. Last week blogger Susie Madrak told David Axelrod: “Liberals and bloggers feel like we’re the girl you take under the bleachers but won’t be seen with in the light of day.”
And Glenn Greenwald noted to Politico, people's anger “has very little – basically nothing – to do with what bloggers have been saying, and everything to do with the fact that there are no jobs and millions of people are having their homes foreclosed.”
I wish it wasn’t the case, but it’s true: people would have much less time for Tea Parties and Glenn Beck if there wasn't so much fear out there about the fate of the nation, and a more defiant fight-back being mounted by Democrats.
Bill Clinton knew that, though his solutions—deregulation, “welfare reform” and NAFTA—created a house of cards that staggered twice and then collapsed two years ago. Now we’re dealing with that fallout, and the fact that Obama put Clinton people in charge of trying to fix the economy. That's the problem. It’s not Glenn Greenwald or Marcy Wheeler or Rachel Maddow or me. Thank you very much.
As Richard Trumka said, it’s jobs, jobs, jobs. The money media love the story that the lefty media are the problem because it preserves their place as the good guys. I wish we had that much power. The reality is, as we've said before, the best antidote to fake class solidarity is the real kind.

Laura, I disagree with you. Lefty media does have power. And Lefties do need to Quit whinning. Or rather, playing Monday Morning quarterback in the middle of the 2nd quarter. Lefty media needs to stop trying to be ‘pure’, and be, as they say in sports, ‘homers’.
Drunken sports fans know more about strategy than the Liberals I hear on the radio.
I’ve not heard one person say “hey, we elected a smart guy. Let’s try and figure out what his strategy is, and help make that happen.” Or, “let’s try and win 2 in a row.” Even da Cubs can do that. We’ve been outa power for 30 ‘f’n years – 2 years ain’t nothing.
And I don’t hear them saying ‘what can I do.” Like hey, how many Lefties have taken to the streets these past 2 years? No body stood in front of a BP gas station. Or did a sit-in at a local bank. Lefties, by and large, are snobs. And they wonder why we loose. Hey, join my meetup.com/DoBetterEconomy club. Quit yer bitchin.

See in sports, people understand strategy. They might not agree with what the coach does, but they understand. Like an intentional walk in baseball. Your typical Lefty would freak out – “4 wild pitches in a row!!! Oh no, the sky is falling!!! Get the bum outa there!”
A knowledgable fan looks at the whole picture. The guy you walked hits 350, first base is open, the next guy hits .190
Like with Obama – ‘oh my god, he said he wants to work with the Righties a gazzilion times!”
Me, I know that Obama knows that 90% of America tunes in for about 1 minute. With the Righties owning mainstream media, if he got mad only once, that’s what would be repeated.
Doesn’t anybody get that Obama’s biggest challenge is the KKK style Racism that is the Tea-baggers?
“I want my Country back” means
“I want the ‘N-gger outa the White House.”
If he gets mad, even once, he becomes the stereotypical Angry Black Guy.
Not to sound like a smart alack, but I knew this would happen as soon as he got nominated – the Left will murder him because he didn’t perform miracles, and the Right will murder (assiginate?) him because he’s Black.
Democrats have a “hard time taking their own side in an agrument” is true.
Does anyone remember the flaws of the Civil Rights Act? Nope. They just know it got passed. Same thing will happen to Health Care.
In the meantime, what will they say about this mid-term election?
Either Democrats stayed in power, and went on to more victories,
or
they p-ssed their POWER away.
And gave America up to the Klu Klux Klan.
Well really, that we gave more Power to corporate executives. And CxO’s are Gang-bangers in suits, with an army of lawyers, ad men, con men and stooges (tea-baggers). CxO’s make Hitler seem like an amature. They rob so smoothly people don’t even know it. That’s their brilliance.
