Imran Malik was a third-year medical student in Pakistan in 2005 when the earthquake hit. He says he "didn't even think," just jumped in a cab and went to help. It didn't take him much more thought to decide to go to Haiti to help after last month's quake; he's just returned from his trip down there providing medical aid.

When he's not working to help earthquake survivors, Malik plays drums in Pakistani-American punk band The Kominas, who were featured in Taqwacore, a documentary on Muslim punk bands. He joins Laura in studio to talk about punk rock, Haiti, Muslim identity, and the problems with the U.S. health care system.
