August was a dark month, so to speak, for advocates of healthcare reform—public option or single payer. Where were the activists? And what’s the message?

Marshall Ganz, a long time organizer and lecturer at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, Maggie Mahar, the author of Money-Driven Medicine: The Real Reason Health Care Costs So Muchir?t=lauraflanders-20&l=as2&o=1&a=006076533X, and Nina Agrawal, Director of Community Outreach for National Physicians Alliance in NY on what needs to be done to win the healthcare war.

Then, playwright, author, and actor Wally Shawn on the healthcare question, political turning points, and, of course, family. He’s just out with a new collection of essays from Haymarket books aptly titled, Essaysir?t=lauraflanders-20&l=as2&o=1&a=1608460029.

Finally, filmmakers Lily Keber and Jordan Flaherty set out to see for themselves what happened in Gaza after the Israeli invasion in January of this year. Nine months later, rebuilding has barely begun and the Israeli blockade continues. In Gaza Under Siege they speak to the people of Gaza about what they need to rebuild their towns and cities.
