Journalists at President Obama’s press conference Wednesday asked about his current plans for health care reform as well as his thoughts on the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis “Skip” Gates. What implications are there for health care reform now that he’s admitted not everyone would be covered without a single payer system, and did he skirt the issue of race when it came to Gates?

Thus far, members of the Bush administration have been left off the hook when it comes to the issue of torture. We view a clip from Stephen Colbert that addresses this, and makes us wonder, what kind of responsibility should current political figures take in investigating this, if any?

Media coverage of the death of Walter Cronkite is also discussed, along with the disturbing, ongoing allegations coming from the right and even, at times, the mainstream, which claim Obama is not an American citizen.

Here to discuss these topics and more we’re joined by Brandon Brice of Hip Hop Republicans and Rose Aguilar, author of “Red Highways: A Liberal’s Journey into the Heartland” and radio host of “Your Call” on 91.7 FM San Francisco. Also on the show is Rory O’Connor, co-founder of Globalvision and author of “Shock Jocks: Hate Speech & Talk Radio.”
