We’re broadcasting from the studios of Free Speech TV today in Denver, Colorado where the state is currently weighing how to spend billions in federal stimulus dollars. How will it be spent? And will local organizations and activists have a say? David Sirota, author of The Uprising, Carmen Rhodes, Executive Director of FRESC: Good Jobs, Strong Communities, and Kendra Sandoval, a consultant and the founder of Blue and Yellow Logic talk about what's at stake for community organizations and the people of Colorado.
Then Nancy LaPlaca of Transition Colorado and Leslie Glustrom of Colorado Clean Energy Action on why Colorado’s Governor is pushing for the construction of a coal fired power plant. They’re determined to stop construction of the plant and we’ll find out what they’re doing to make sure Colorado’s energy is in fact clean.
Finally, an anti-torture protest in Washington, D.C. meets resistance from the authorities. Over 50 activists were arrested last week as they staged a demonstration in front of the White House demanding that the Obama administration investigate and prosecute those responsible for US torture policy. Thanks to Witness Against Torture for the video.
Thanks to the American News Project for video in tonight’s show.
