One of the great casualties of the war in Iraq was the credibility of the mainstream media, whatever credibility it had left. The vacuum has been filled by independent reporters, the unembedded. Today on GRITtv we speak to three reporters and video journalists who have been on the front lines in Iraq and Lebanon--Rick Rowley and Kouross Esmaeli of Big Noise Films and Ana Nogueira. They tell us what they think the media have been missing lately when it comes to coverage of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Israeli invasion of Gaza, and the expansion of covert US military action in Pakistan.
