The web site of Ramzy Baroud, PalestineChronicle.com, was hacked into earlier today. A message on the screen read: "Hacked by ISRAELI Hackers." The site is under maintenance and will return soon. Baroud, the author of The Second Palestinian Intifada: A Chronicle of a People’s Struggle, joins us on GRITtv today. And by phone, Uri Avnery, a founding member of Gush Shalom and the author of 1948: A Soldier's Tale--The Bloody Road to Jerusalem. Avnery wrote earlier this week that, “This war is a writing on the wall: Israel is missing the historic chance of making peace with secular Arab nationalism. Tomorrow, It may be faced with a uniformly fundamentalist Arab world, Hamas multiplied by a thousand.”
Will the international community negotiate with Hamas? And if not, what way forward in Israel/Palestine? Will Israel agree to a negotiated ceasefire or will they escalate the ground invasion?

Wash Post on the one president at a time doctrine:

Aides say the president-elect’s silence on foreign policy follows a long-held principle that reserves such issues to the president. Offering a competing voice could have immediate consequences for U.S. policy.
“President-elect Obama believes it is important to adhere to the constitutional principle that there is only one president at a time, and it is extremely important in the arena of foreign policy that it is clear who is speaking on behalf of the United States,” incoming press secretary Robert Gibbs said.
