Regarding the auto industry bailout; some of your guests appear to be strong proponents on nationalizing the auto industry. Most Americans, myself included, consider this to be the flagship industry of our free enterprise system. The vast majority of Americans will never tolerate turning any manufacturing industry over to socialism.
Socialize health care, and all forms of power and water including the petroleum industry. I believe the vast majority of Americans will applaud you. These things should have been introduced during the Hoover administration but I don’t believe it is too late to deliver to ourselves what most of the rest of the industrialized world has.
The auto industry would become competitive again without the obscene health care and retirement costs. Any further help should be directed toward producing cleaner, more efficient products. Incidentally, if the republicans had not killed the electric car nearly 8 years ago the industry would be much healthier today. I hope GM kept their tooling for their EV, because now it is its time here and around the world.
