The election may be coming to an end, but the conversation has just begun. Today on GRITtv, in collaboration with The Nation, AlterNet, Brave New Films, Afro-Netizen, and FireDogLake we look back at the historic campaign, at voting right’s issues, and ahead to what the progressive movement has learned during this very long political season.

Phil Donahue, Jane Hamsher, and Richard Kim; Biko Baker on line voting in Milwaukee, The Nation’s Chris Hayes reporting from northern Virginia, and Marie Mulholland who came from Ireland to organize voters in Ohio. The excitement generated by this election, the Obama campaign, and the end of the Bush administration has had a powerful effect on the American electorate. Voters are turning out in what will likely be record numbers. In some cases overwhelming polling stations.

And there is hope that big change will come to Washington. But the reality that either candidate will face when they take office in January is hardly rosy.

Our second panel discusses how the financial crisis and US wars on multiple fronts will impact an Obama or McCain administration. Also, what the disenfranchisement of working class and minority voters says about democracy. Danny Schechter, Liliana Segura, JoAnn Wypijewski, and Roberto Lovato join us in our studio. And we have reports from Chris Rabb and Steven Rosenfeld in Pennsylvania as well as Ari Melber in Chicago who weighs in on what will happen to the Obama campaign’s email list.

Thanks to Suzy Salamy for video reporting from Ohio and to Jay Smooth of The Ill Doctrine for his awesome Poem For A Young Voter.

Be sure to join us tomorrow at 12 noon eastern with Manning Marable, Steve Cobble, and Malia Lazu.
