Thank you all for participating in today's live stream. You can see the full show at 8 pm and we'll be back tomorrow at noon eastern.
What does a belief in evolution have to do with the economy? Quite a bit, as you're about to hear. In an economic crisis like this, on the eve of a general election we have choices to make. Will we make the sort that invest in the kinds of science that will retool our economy for the twenty first century -- or will we let what some call a holy war on science take us the other way?
With John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate, the question of religious fundamentalism and its role in American politics is on the table in a major way. Environmentalist Chip Ward wrote recently that a Palin presidency would be, "the equivalent of launching a 'surge strategy' in the Republlican war on the environment." What are the implications for our planet -- and our economy?
Today on GRITtv we discuss the true cost of the Right's war on science and the environment with JEFF SHARLET, HEATHER ROGERS, ESTHER KAPLAN, and DIANA DEGETTE.

Would your panelists agree that the religion and the evangelical right fuel their fire with FEAR? What part does FEAR play in the Republican’s attempt to sway or hold voters? Is FEAR a tactic that will work in this election in light of the ‘Hope” and “Change”that Obama brings?
Thanks,
Frances
