GOP Vice presidential candiate Sarah Palin sure can turn out a crowd...

A number of women turned up at a rally outside the library in Anchorage on Saturday. And when I say a number -- the organizers, "Alaska Women Against Palin," thought they'd be lucky to get a hundred outside an Anchorage library on Saturday. Turnout topped more than 1,400 according to counters with hand clickers who passed through the crowd.

They also clocked (or clicked) about 90 counter-protestors. A local shock jock, Eddie Burke, announced the rally on his show, calling the organizers "a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots," and read their home phone numbers over the air. The women received some nasty phone calls, but ended up with a wildly successful demonstration. As it turns out, Alaska Shock Jocks for Palin were no match for Alaska Women Against Palin.
