Tonight on GRITtv: an interview with Rep. Barbara Lee. A voice in the wilderness, Lee was the only member of congress who voted against the authorization of the use of force following the attacks of 9/11, essentially questioning the notion that a war on terror was a sensible way to respond.
She continues to be a vocal opponent of the war in Iraq and has even called for the creation of a Department of Peace. Imagine that! Lee is also the first Vice Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Tonight she’ll talk about the convention, Barack Obama’s historic candidacy, and what the Democratic Party must do to reign in defense spending and change the course of US foreign policy.
The film clip of Rep. Lee is from War Made Easy
GRITtv with Laura Flanders airs Mon-Thurs, at 8pm & 1 am ET, on Free Speech TV (DISH Network ch. 9415) and posts right here at 9pm Eastern
