GRITtv interviews Monique Harden Co-Director and Attorney with Advocates for Environmental Human Rights. She discusses the impact of global warming on the Gulf region, the continued dredging of wetlands and oil and natural gas exploration, and why the Bush administration’s recovery effort has helped developers but not people. Katrina illuminated the connection between the denial of environmental justice and the displacement of poor and minority communities. Yet the recovery effort has favored the very developers and oil and natural gas prospectors who were responsible for the environmental pollution that preceded the hurricane. Despite a heightened awareness of the impact of global warming environmental laws remain inadequate. Listen to the full interview here.
