Jim Klages was at the peak of his career as a music instructor and well known soloist in Washington, D.C. when he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. His work, family, and the art form he loved were all suddenly thrown into question. He lost his house, his livelihood, and his ability to play. Healed tells Jim’s story and his family’s remarkable struggle with chronic illness.

Filmmaker Sam Karp was a student of Klages’ twenty years ago. When Karp reconnected with his old teacher in 2005 he was struck by his battle with disease and his recovery. He set out to make a film that explores the complexities of living with Multiple Sclerosis. Making music is the great act of hope, Klages says in the film. The same act that allows him to overcome MS.
