This week GRITtv is away. But there's a lot coming up.
Soon after we return on August 4 (don’t worry, for all of you FSTV viewers, this week we're airing some of our best episodes) we’ll be streaming live once a week and we want your input. Every Wednesday, our roundtable discussion will air live at noon and we’ll be taking questions from you, our viewers. And we want to start the conversation now! If you have something to say, show ideas, thoughts, share them with us.
In just three months GRITtv has covered an incredibly diverse range of subjects, from the housing crisis and feminism today to US foreign policy and public education. We’ve had remarkable artists, actors, filmmakers, and musicians in our studio to talk about their work, their communities, and their politics. Just a few of the highlights: actor and activist Danny Glover; Kimberly Peirce, the director of Boys Don’t Cry and Stop-Loss; Writer and activist Ariel Dorfman; and Singer-songwriter Morley.
And every Monday our media roundtable takes a much-needed and refreshing look at the past week’s coverage of world events. Suffice it to say, if you want to know what’s going on—online, in print, and on the tube--you’re better off watching our weekly roundtable than your are reading the NYT (It’s a lot more fun, too). Guests have included Rebecca Traister of Salon, Hendrik Hertzberg of the New Yorker, and the Media Channel’s Danny Schechter. Not your typical talking heads. You’d be surprised at the coverage. And it’s not just nitpicking. We cover the good and the bad. Want to know what big stories haven’t made the front pages of the major dailies? Want to know what stories you shouldn't miss? Tune in on Mondays.
In August, when some of our panels stream live, we want you to be involved. Send us your questions, thoughts, and feedback online. Join the conversation today!
And coming up tonight, from the vaults, a panel on wooing women voters, our dinner with Wally Shawn, the United States of Poetry featuring Leonard Cohen and Amiri Baraka, and the American News Project’s Food Stamp Challenge. See what GRITtv is all about.
