Born in Jamaica Queens, NY singer/songwriter Morley has been dubbed the Nina Simone of her age. Her palette is broad. Her music draws on the voices that have changed her: Sweet Honey in the Rock, Bob Dylan, Nas, and others.
She writes songs of protest and possibility. And she’s performed for everyone from the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela to Cindy Sheehan outside of Bush’s ranch in Crawford, TX. Joined by guitarist Robin Macatangay, Morley plays in-studio for us and discusses her new album SEEN, what it means to be a subject in your own life, and how protest music can be a force for change.
This summer she performs at Worldfest in California and the Nice Jazz Festival. You can learn more at www.myspace.com/morleymusic.
