Tonight at 8pm EST on GRITtv we go beyond the numbers and look at why wealth matters. The gap is growing but why and how can we fight back? The War On Greed takes a stab at closing the buyout industry's tax loophole, which has earned the likes of Henry Kravis millions of dollars. Is it the American way or is there another way? Find out why American capitalism is out of control and if there's a way to redistribute wealth in the 21st century.
In the meantime, here's a primer on why the rich get richer, from Larry Loophole, Brave New Films, and The War On Greed.

Will voodoo economics never die?

RBG
Can you tell me why these weird times keep showing up? Your comment is a 9:20 pm. Some others have been strange, too. Hard to keep up.

actually shrub economics makes complete sense. Oil prices go up, Shrub family and friends get rich. Wage unnecessary wars, Cheney family and friends get rich. And both groups hold their assets through private equity buyout shops. There’s an essential difference between free enterprise and crony capitalism. We’ve crossed that line a long time ago. This isn’t American capitalism anymore, its Mugabe-style thuggery (aka, piracy combined with some less-than-judicious pillaging of the public treasury).

And the theme, I didn’t understand at first, was starve the beast. We are going to be so in debt for years. All the tv economic news is bad, like this is not just a phase or a downterm, but serious, longterm, systemic $$ problems. Yep, starve the beast and all those “little” people.

yeah.. they starved the “beast” and drowned it in a bathtub too.. but not before pilfering it for every bit of treasure it was worse. Its not just that they philosophically wanted smaller (or dead) government.. they saw our government as their personal piggy bank. This country hasn’t seen anything like this since the Grant administration….at least

Look the solution to this problem is very well know. Let us stop guzzling the ReThu Kool Aid.
Let’s start giving people the information we have from historical precident and when they whine and bitch shove reality up their noses.
The solution to this problem is Tax the fukin’ Rich. Hammer them with 90% tax rates. And no Homer you ain’t rich and you never will be rich enough to have to worry about this because THE RICH HAVE ALL, LET ME REPEAT THAT, ALL THE GOTDAMN MONEY.
