Actress/activist Mimi Kennedy, best known for her work on the TV show Dharma and Greg, and writer for the Huffington Post, comes in to the studio to talk about her work as Chair of the Progressive Democrats of America.
Kennedy speaks intimately with Laura Flanders about her journey from a conservative upbringing to a life devoted in large part to political participation and social justice. Kennedy expresses the need for a true progressive voice within the Democratic party, led by a progressive governing majority in Congress, bolstered and emboldened by mobilized constituents. Kennedy recounts some of the actions that have taken place in the last eight years to accomplish that end, from fighting to bring the troops home, to challenging electoral fraud in the 2000 and 2004 elections, to combating the "triangulating" politics of the DLC and promoting candidates that truly articulate the desires of the Democratic base. In this electoral year, Kennedy implores voters to express their support for Healthcare Not Warfare to Democratic Party leadership.

This was fun, to see Mimi again as its been a few years. Can’t wait for her new film work to come out and my lust reminds me of all Mimi has done during the Bush years to invoke citizen resistance, most often at some expense to her career, I’d bet. She’s a giver. And a keeper.

Didn’t realize Dennis Kucinich was involved with PDA. Credibility of PDA just shot up.
