The Reverend Billy and his First Amendment-singing, public-space-defending cohorts dropped an enormous Not For Sale sign on the pavilion at historic Union Square in downtown NYC. His anti-privatization battle was featured on GRITtv back on May 14.

In What Would Jesus Buy?, filmmaker Rob VanAlkamade chronicles Billy's Church of Stop Shopping tour across America. Rev. Billy and the Choir rail against out-of-control consumption, the misery of debt, and the malling of America. Their bio-diesel-powered bus crisscrosses the heartland - Billy's the only preacher we know with an order of protection against him from Starbucks and Walmart. Here's an excerpt of What Would Jesus Buy? - newly released on DVD.

Love the Reverend Billy…saw him in action at a Starbucks in SF and his message is wonderful…
He’s a more spiritually connected human being than most of the stiff, hypocritial priests and ministers I see piously spouting love and forgiveness while doing nothing to help the poor and middle-class survive the crushing conditions happening in the US and the world these days…
BLESS THE GOOD REVEREND!
