The war raging in the Middle East may be draining our economy, irreparably damaging our relationships with our international peers, and wasting innocent lives on both sides, but there is an unseen price tag attached to this fight: the veterans who must suffer at the hands of an uncaring, bureaucratic and increasingly insular administration and their pawns in the armed forces.
When it comes to the health and wellbeing, both mental and physical, of our fighting men and women, those with the power to help and heal turn the other cheek and instead open their palm towards corporate interests and the profiteers of our Middle Eastern misery. Is it our destiny to win overseas, or is it our fate to lose everything back home?
On the show today, we have a panel discussion with Kris Goldsmith and Matthis Chiroux of Iraq Veterans Against the War, along with Josh Kors of The Nation regarding the steps needed to be taken towards helping soldiers with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Also on the program is author Jeff Sharlet talking about his new book, The Family, an intensive look at the Fundamentalist world of our nation’s leaders, a peek at “What Would Jesus Buy?”, and coverage of the AIPAC policy conference courtesy of The Real News Network.
